Mobile Link is Generac’s system for you to remotely monitor your generator and propane tank levels on your mobile device using the Mobile Link App 24/7 anywhere. Even when not home, gone south for the winter, traveling, etc… you can see the status of your generator allowing you to have a piece of mind know the state of the generator. With a paid Mobile Link subscription the generator will be put in to Moriarty Electric’s dealer dashboard where the generator will be monitored as well.

Remote monitoring of the generator is done by connecting the generator to the internet with either WIFI or Cellular. See the table below for the differences between the two connection options. Mobile Link isn’t just for brand new generators, it can be installed on existing generators that have a digital display and were built after 2010.

Mobile Link Tank Monitor will allow you to see your propane tank levels and set a minimum threshold level to send an alert when reached to help prevent the generator from running out of fuel. The tank monitor connects to the cellular network for a reliable high availability connection.

Generator Connection Options

Pros

Cons

WIFI

Lower Initial Cost Relies on the telephone or cable lines on the street to be intact.
Relies on the local router and any network extenders to be powered during the time of power loss till generator starts in case generator doesn’t start so the message can be sent
Wifi signal has to be strong and able to reach the generator
If the router or router password gets changed, the generator will need to be re-attached to the network

Cellular 4G/LTE

Does not rely on the wires on the street A little higher Initial cost
Does not rely on the local network Requires cellular signal at the generator
Works when all local networks are down
